| | You have alighted on the home page of St. Clement of Alexandria, the cathedral chapel for the Diocese of Texas of the Universal Catholic Church, a part of the Liberal Catholic Movement begun in Great Britain in 1916, with apostolic succession deriving from the Old Catholic Church of Holland.
Using the Liberal Rite, our worship is traditional, yet open to all seekers, reflecting an attitude of mystical devotion to the Holy Trinity as well as a profound respect for humanity, made in the image of God. Those desiring the holy sacraments, searching for spiritual insight, and seeking fellowship with like-minded souls will find here a haven of peace and a sanctuary for regeneration in the midst of an increasingly fragmented, uncharitable, and chaotic world.
We do not claim to know everything neither do we seek to exclude, for the Church is not a static museum or country club but an organic reality, the living Body of Christ, ever vital and ever evolving. Instead, we try to provide a place where reverent worship may lead one forward into ever deepening awe, ever greater knowledge of and service to Christ, in whom we live and move and have our being. We erect no barriers to Christ's altar. If you hunger or thirst, come. Our patron, St. Clement of Alexandria (c. 150-215), wrote: "The Logos of God became man so that you may learn from man how man may become God." The Christian life is one of theosis, of becoming more and more like our Teacher, Christ. Come: discover apostolic worship and be nourished.
